Don Clarke

Don Clarke of South Africa is one of the country's most successful and experienced songwriters. He has had many of his songs recorded by a diverse section of artists, and has won several international songwriting competitions.
A highly creative polymath, he also writes and paints.
Quite a few of his songs and columns are hard hitting political commentary, and he has written a book called ONCE UPON A CRUTCHMULLET which is largely controversial socio-political commentary interspersed with stories from his interesting life

He has had many of his songs recorded over the years by a diverse section of artists, including his reconciliation song "Sanbonani" which was a hit for P J Powers in 1986, and currently writes most of the music for the films of Leon Schuster; South Africa's most successful film maker.
He has also been particularly successsful in the Afrikaans music market collaborating with Kalla Bremer, and has written two of Laurica Rauch's biggest songs, "Die Nostalgie" and "Oh So Sentimenteel".
