Annie Schor

I sit on the floor of my room and paint all night sometimes. I enjoy going on adventures throughout the city, taking trains and the Staten Island Ferry. I am fascinated with watching large groups of people commute. My art is about isolation, child-like silliness, and loneliness. I use watercolor, charcoal, crayon, and acrylic paint and collage elements to create drawings that reference these internal landscapes. I also think of the images as stains, the body, and a living space. The symbols I use are paper cut outs of whales, walruses, rhinos and blue ribbon prizes. I draw beds that are too small for anyone to sleep in. An intimate space no one can share. Water towers are very important too in my landscapes. They are rickety, unsafe ready to collapse at any moment. I earned my BFA from Ringling College of Art and Design. I have attended residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and Penland School of Crafts. I am currently living in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
