Neil Shapiro

I was born and raised on Long Island.  After college, I moved to Manhattan and began working in the film industry. I eventually ended up in the Camera Department and fell in love with photography.  I'm currently a Director of Photography based in Los Angeles.  

Over the years, I’ve been asked what I would do if I didn’t shoot commercials.  My response was always the same.  I’d be a still photographer.  What kind of photography would I shoot?  My response was always the same.  I have no idea.  When the Pandemic hit, I had an opportunity to give photography a try.  
All of the images in my portfolio were captured during and after the pandemic. The pictures do not belong to any specific genre. The images reflect my Commercial DP sensibilities, which is to say, my attempt to photograph just about any person, place or thing in an interesting way.  I hope that craft is represented in the photographs.
