ABOUT
EXHIBITIONS

Artist Chiat Kwan Lau (Ness) started his art journey in his home country of Singapore. With a passion for graphic art, Ness moved to Australia to continue his education in Graphic Arts at a school in the heart of The Rocks district of Sydney. It was here he developed various different styles of pop and bold graphic work. Ness spent many years working as a Graphic Artist in the packaging and advertising industries.

In 2012 NessyART was created in conjunction with his partner Scott Succow. Using Ness’s designs, the pair started selling canvases, prints and merchandise at markets around Sydney. A couple years later NessyART would exhibit different canvas series at venues around Darlinghurst and end up as a part of the artist collective at The Makery on Oxford Street.

Between 2012 and 2017 Ness created a large portfolio of Pop Art and developed a passionate following both in Australia and internationally.
In 2017 Ness suffered a major breakdown, he suffered from major depressive disorder and debilitating anxiety. This has made creating new designs a struggle.

In 2018, they opened POP on the Rocks gallery steps away from where Ness studied Graphic Arts. The vision of the gallery is to “Brighten lives through Pop Art.”
