Prasanta Maiti

Prasanta Maiti is a contemporary Indian painter whose work is deeply rooted in the pastoral beauty of rural West Bengal. Born and raised in a small village situated at the banks of the Shilabati and Kethai rivers, Maiti’s formative years were defined by the fluid landscapes and shifting light of the riverfront.

After completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Indian college of art and draftsmanship, Kolkata. between 2004 and 2008, he spent years experimenting with diverse mediums, including oil, acrylic, and mixed media. However, his artistic journey eventually led him back to the medium that best captures the essence of his heritage: watercolor.

Maiti’s current practice focuses exclusively on the delicate and atmospheric qualities of watercolor. His work serves as a visual dialogue between his academic training in Kolkata and his deep-seated emotional connection to the natural environment of his youth.
