I was born and raised in Toronto, but I now live in Northern California. I have been painting for almost 40 years. My paintings are usually not planned; rather, I like to look for and discover images after I have randomly put brushstrokes and collage materials on the canvas. I tend to see birds, fish and animals in my paintings, not surprising, given my love of nature.
About twenty years ago, I discovered computer art, and managed to create about 10,000 images, many involving the manipulation of photographs.
More recently, I have developed an interest in assemblage, where I combine three- dimensional objects. I love to browse though flea markets and thrift shops, choosing items for reasons that I cannot explain, and then combining them in artworks through a process of manipulation and exploration, until I find a satisfying result.
