Alejandra Basauri

I'm Alejandra Basauri Bustamante, visual artist. Currently I dedicate myself, in a timely manner, to painting. I have a degree in Art from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Santiago de Chile. My expressive initiative as an artist is to create a discourse from my vision as an active subject of a context to which I belong and, through my images, to be able to express and generate a concept that encompasses a topic beyond my "subjective expression". In summary, my The personal theme is based on the questioning of women and their stigmatization as a Sexual Image within the different mass media (television, internet, magazines, etc.). From Painting, my proposal is to question, with artistic and conceptual search purposes , whether this stigmatization or predominance of women as a representative of sexuality, (the main theme in the media of images and genres) has achieved a development in which women have become active individuals in our society or, on the contrary , the excess and manipulation of sexual images of women has only solidified the ideal of "Sexual Object".
