Leon Aarts

Leonardus (Leon for short) was born in 1961 at Christchurch, New Zealand. He has been painting for approximately 40 years.

Leon lives to paint and has an overwhelming passion to express himself through his art. His style is difficult to define, except to say it is expressionism. His grandfather Leonardus van de Ven,(Nardus), a famous Dutch artist from Brabant, Netherlands,(d.1957) provides him with huge inspiration

He studied art and art history at school and was taught by Alan Pearson. Leonardus has held 2 solo exhibitions at the Christchurch Art Centre. Some of his work is displayed at The Classic Villa luxury boutique hotel, 17 Worcester Street, Christchurch Central City.
