About Adam Daley Wilson
My conceptual art addresses issues of society, power, norms, humanity, and law. Collectors NYC to LA. Influences include minimalism, graffiti, and street art; Ruscha, Kruger, Holzer, Weiner, Wool, Baldessari, Nauman, Johns, and more ... 12 major sales in 2016 ... I was born to make this art, having been an eyewitness to power for two decades at America's most elite universities, most powerful government agencies, and most powerful international law firms ... I'm an emerging artist who will, as I mature, make art documenting and critiquing the possible truths of who we are, where we are, and why we are --- and it will be art that's urgent, exciting, and beholden to no one ... Self-taught; painted in Philly, D.C. and San Francisco in my 20s and 30s; conceptual art starting 2014 in my 40s. J.D., Stanford Law, B.A., Penn ... Artist's Statement: As an eye-witness to power for two decades, my art addresses issues of power, society, norms, humanity, and law --- by experimenting with language and images to create minimalist art with intellectual rigor ... With all of my works, one unifying theme, so far: My art should not just look pretty on your wall --- not while national and societal norms rise and fall, not while the American mythology --- a nation's most cherished beliefs about itself, its most favorite self-told stories and fables --- are once again juxtaposed against some of a nation's darkest hours, acts, and fears ... As I explore society's human nature, and its rules of power and other norms, I draw upon the traditional liberal arts --- and art history --- from linguistic conceptualism to postconceptualism, from ready-made stenciling to graffiti and street art --- often referencing, with gratitude, Ruscha, Weiner, Kruger, Holzer, Baldessari, Nauman, Wool, and Johns, and more, as I experiment artistically to grow and mature.
