Annabel Ossel

I am an abstract artist. My work is an attempt to make sense of the world and my place within it by focusing on colour and the juxtapositions of different colours and shapes.
I use acrylics as they produce such bold and vibrant colours. The canvases I use are deep-edged and I paint the edges so that the canvases can be hung framed or unframed.
For the design and later stages of my work I often use PhotoShop. I also create collages, using torn pieces of paper I have painted. The collages can sometimes inform my paintings and vice-versa.
For many years I was a picture researcher, working in book publishing and other media. I took a degree in Art History in the 1990s and an MA in Fine Art in 2019 and have been painting for about 20 years. I am based in Bedfordshire in the UK.
