Antonella Romano

The boundary – real, symbolic or imaginary – is the privileged place within my artistic research develops.

The morphology of identity and home, as well as the attention to omissions and heritage, power and authority, are the cornerstones of my artistic elaboration.

Wobbling into the threshold, the research gives way to the creative act when trespassing occurs:

in these way images archived over the years – taken from magazines or newspapers, memories, from photographs taken on the street or on the net – become painting; while the materials - collected over time without premeditative logic - turn into the installation.

All human knowledge remains fallible, conjectured. There are more established theories than others, but never certain. We read the world with the grammar of our cultural memory.

Antonella Romano (1986) graduated in International Relations and got a master's degree in Law and Economics in Rome. She studied visual art at Rome University of Fine Arts - RUFA paying particular attention to figurative art.
