There is enslaved femininity in Anna's figures and sensuality in her abstracts . But nothing taken head -on is revealing.
These allusions are coy as one might expect of a woman not determined to reinstall the matriarchy. When the forms dissolve there is the de rigueur search for broken harmonies - and then mystery . What else is there ?
There are no answers and who'd want them ? Anna knows this.

Statement:
Anna Roch Deus' canvases develop dynamic, lively Light Atmospheres that aim to find a balance in the imbalance: they confirm and challenge the tension of movement, form and line on a two-dimensional canvas. These divide the canvas into levels, using a variety of textures such as marble sand, exploring the ways in which a canvas can create spaces of energy and silence within its complex structure of forms. Anna avoids preliminary sketches; the painting begins with an intuition about the surface and its interconnection in the space, creating tensions of a continuous visual movement.
Anna uses opposing colours and makes her paint by mixing natural earth pigments with a water-based medium. She chooses materials and colours that reflect her frame of mind and the energy that she aims to tr...
