My paintings allow me a venue in which to critique blind devotion of fundamentalist worship, employing metaphorical devices to critique fundamental beliefs and expose the fallacy of “the eternal.” I subvert religious iconography using materials such as gold leaf and printers ink, their use symbolically grounds my work in a contemporary religious conversation. I systematically alter materials with scientifically-based processes, opening my studio practice to that which is rational rather than emotional.
