1930s Map 3D Butterflies - SOLD Collage

For this series of work - The Butterfly Collection - I wanted each image to work not only on individual merit but also harmonising when placed with others to create a visually stimulating and eye catching collection. The illusion of flight was achieved by mounting each individual piece by hand and bending the wings accordingly to give a 3D effect. Finally the recycling of the materials used is an obvious analogy of the life cycle and transformation of the butterfly. This particular piece, made from a 1930s, is longitudinally and geographically accurate.
