Aretha, 2020 Oil paint, objects, pallet paper, & cardboard on canvas. 24"x30" Original work by John de Mars John de Mars is a Seattle based artist. His work intends to convert the orgone and moods from his subjects into light and color rich oil paintings. He works on mid size to large canvas and his subjects range from seascapes to portraits. For this piece, de Mars arranged 720, 1" squares cut from saved, used, pallet paper to represent the values and tones of Aretha Franklin. By using organic, raw color, the entire work becomes more vibrant and full as we step back to take it in. This is the second piece in a new series. de Mars' paintings amalgamate elements of impressionism, abstractism, expressionism, and pop art. The texture and detail of his work expose the artist's strength and originality. -Artwork will come ready to hang with metal wire across back. -Artwork will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
