Betula was inspired by the lines and motif of a birch tree. I named the artwork after the birch species genus Betula (/ˈbɛtjʊlə/).
It was created with several individual pieces of watercolor paper. Each section of paper was treated with a different method including graphite/ink drawing in combination with collage of different materials. Some sections are even burned with fireworks and gunpowder. The overall color is black, warm white, parchment, and warm yellow.
The large panel measures 4'x8' for maximum impact in a spacious room. The end result is a harmonious and balanced composition.
