Bundlehouse ( Fallen Fruit) Collage

Painting: Gouache, Acrylic, Gesso, Graphite, Oil on Paper, Soft (Yarn, Cotton, Fabric), Plastic, Other, Canvas. This work is part of my on-going series called Bundlehouse (a term I coined in 2015. Bundlehouse is about rebuilding one’s home, one’s life and community after life as they knew it, had been dramatically altered. I think about climate change, natural and manmade disasters, war, and genocide as examples of events that would affect a place so deeply as to displace its inhabitants. I approach making each structure on the landscape as an act of construction. I always begin with a line drawing of the Bundlehouse, then begin to collage using images, materials and remnants from other work found in my studio. I also often use oil pastel, soil, watercolor, gouache, acrylic, graphite, colored pencil for color. The brown color of the "ground" is real soil collected in my global travels.
