Guamán Poma's incorporation of graphics into his chronicles of the Spanish conquest showcases his forward-thinking approach as both an artist and a graphic designer. Despite the lack of existing studies on this aspect, I believe his use of graphics was truly ahead of his time. In this digital work, the third graphic draws inspiration from Vicente Albán's "Principal de Quito" piece. Originally conceived as a promotional piece for a History magazine, it evolved into an art piece with the addition of vibrant colors. This creative exploration wouldn't have been possible without the influence of my husband, who introduced me to Social Studies as a form of art. My hope is that both Poma and Albán receive the recognition they deserve as artists of their times. This digital piece will be printed on matte paper for you to fully appreciate its details. It is presented unframed, and for an enhanced display, framing is recommended. Hardware for hanging is not included. Additionally, there is a print edition available, preserving the essence of the original work.

Ecuador
An Ecuadorian artist, navigates the local artistic landscape with a distinctive approach, diverging from the typical dichotomy prevalent among Quitenian artists. Rather than aligning with the bohemian left or the elite, art-educated right, Angela embraces her identity as an ambitious Quitenian with a down-to-earth perspective. Balancing her artistic pursuits with a middle-class sensibility, Angela introduces a unique voice in the narrative of Ecuador's art scene. She modestly considers herself a sui generis expressionist, influenced by her early exposure to art through her mother, Angie, and the captivating oil-painting sessions with her aunt-in-law, the esteemed artist Micaela Almeida.Angela's artistic journey began with humble doodles of flowers, symbolizing intimacy and family bonds. Her style, marked by an indiscriminate use of colors, reflects her innate creativity. Turning to digital mediums for expression, she reserves traditional materials for moments of artistic freedom. Angela, embracing vulnerability, desires a return to the simplicity of white canvases. She discreetly embeds messages in her art, inviting viewers to discover joy in nature scenes, and showcasing Quitenian humor with humility and depth.
