Collage consists of 4 ambrotype glasses (10x15 cm each) and some broken ambrotypes. Limit state is an engineering term for the state of a structure in which it either loses its ability to resist external influences or receives unacceptable deformation or local damage. In this exhibition project, I see a person as an engineering structure that is constantly under the influence of external forces. Due to these forces the efforts arise in the nodes of the construction that are on one hand connected to such structural elements as uncertainty, doubtfulness, fear of being different, fear of being misunderstood and, on the other hand, self-sufficiency, determination, calmness, self-reliance, taking responsibility for making decisions. If the limit state is reached by the object it means the destruction of the structure or the impossibility of its further use, the person on the other hand stays on the verge of choices in the internal dialogue: - when and what kind of deformation becomes destructive, making a person will-less, weak and unable to resist the routine of every-day life - after what moment and what states is the renewal of the of thoughts and feelings takes place. I chose ambrotype - the photographic process of obtaining images using the 1852 technology, as the main technique for the project. During the process a photosensitive solution is applied to the prepared glass, then, before the emulsion dries up, a picture is taken by a format camera, after that, the developing and fixing take place. The result - is a photograph of a thin silver layer on the plate. Although the images that are obtained using this method are not subject to aging, their surface is easily scratched, and the glass can be broken; in case of the violation of the process of making or if an incompatible material is used, the image may be deformed, damaged or even lost.
