Art Description

Collage: Paper on Paper.

The under layer of the artwork are hand printed Indian Elephant motives utilising traditional wood blocks from India. The top layer is a digitised intricate symmetrical composition of tailoring patterns printed on original back onto the physical bespoke tailoring patterns and then further cut into very carefully which reveals hints of the Elephants. The work references Indian architecture where the women behind the walls can see the world, but they cannot be seen. It's contemporary, mysterious and a metaphor between the body and the architecture we live in. The work is framed in a stained oak wood.
