Gorge Collage

My diving portraits often evoke a sense of danger and unease, referring to my love of swimming but my fear of diving and heights. I want the viewer to look at this piece with a sense of trepidation, taking a second glance. It is no normal diving scene, as I play with space or lack thereof. There are so many divers plunging at once through the sheer drop of a narrow gorge. How will they enter the water safely? Is it deep enough? Will they survive? Using only vintage papers, I wanted to create cliff faces that seem inaccessible and dangerous. I created light and dark patches in rich colours with textures that only come with decaying paper. This piece of work feels meaty with depth, not only in the colours I have chosen but the base materials I chose to work on.
