Collage: Paper, Gouache, Ink, Color on Paper.
This work is part of a series exploring African masks by reducing them to their basic outlines and re-configuring forms into new 'hybrid' shapes. These forms have been cut into old artwork photos that have been painted with their original content erased and literally cut out to leave the form behind in the negative space. Black lines accentuate the interior of the mask form, deliberately re-enforcing its shape. The base paper contains a blue biro drawing by my young son.
