About The Artwork
Following inspiration and interest in Picasso's Vollard Suite lead me to one of his engravings of two nudes. Probably Marie Therese or maybe some other Venus as seen throughout the history of Art. I was moved to make a contemporary version. Here my nudes are spare and direct, their backgrounds are from the current day. They are not 'poetic' as his may appear by comparison as we do not often have time for deep and meaningful in the 21st century. The letters 'LOL' ( signifying 'LOTS OF LAUGHS' or 'LAUGH OUT LOUD' as used in text or social media language) is an illustration of this demonstrating our current want to compress emotions and thoughts into small effortless 'images' (or 'sound-bites') of meaning. This is a collage using paper on board. unframed.

Self taught he has Painted, Illustrated, worked outside of Art, been to Art Schools ( long ago and far away, -the first one had a large library with a great section on Painting ( and most other things ) where he spent many entranced hours, did much life drawing and (more) Art History. At the second school he studied graphics. After a time as an Illustrator he changed direction. Art History says that some Artists left Financial Services in order to to take up their work as Artists. He follows this trend with a slight twist of his own.. He has painted in many 'styles' over time and sold off and online. Painting was what he loved doing as a child, as a school boy and as an adult. " I still have that 'thing' that makes me want to paint". .......
