Life can sometimes be hard and unjust but people will always fight for their rights. The background is filled with protest slogans that people used to fight un-justice. The word "Life" is in 3D and pops out of the paining by about 1cm. By reading the words the viewer first thought is the beach which is also reminded by the blue color representing the ocean. But by getting closer all the protest message become visible and the painting takes a complete other signification.

Nicolas Burkhardt is a self-taught artist. Painting since 2008, he built his catalogue inspired by the masters of street art such as Bansky and Mr Brainwash. Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein are also unconditioned references of Pop Art in his work, completing his artistic foundation which, by the fusion of these two tendencies, unite to formulate Nicolas’ work. Not content with the single image, Nicolas affects the verb, introducing in his renderings words affirming the emotions conveyed in his paintings. They are the identity of his artistic commitment, without seeming repetitive. He wants to make the viewer think, be intrigued and question. A conscious « provocation » to extract the meaning of the interpretations suggested by his work. His professional background being in finance, Nicolas looks at the corporate and consumerist world both from an insider and outsider’s perspective, using this as his artistic canvas and source of inspiration. His critical eye blended with his artistic approach, brings together two dichotomous worlds (art and consumerist), which, when combined, create an unexpected and powerful combination that will lead people to think, and have a critical eye on themselves as well.
