Collage: Paint, Photo, Clay, Watercolor, Marker on Paper, Wood.
This mixed-media work is one of a series of works where I explore the relationship between the "everyday" and space. I hope to highlight the idea that the “everyday” can overwhelm. Endless forms of media allow us to see everything, even the most banal moments, happening at all times to all people in all spaces, if only we had all the time in the world to view it. With my work, I want to explore the awareness we have, via social and other forms of media, of the simultaneity of so many people’s everyday lives.
I use so many different materials and media to reinforce this overwhelming feeling amidst the everyday - polymer clay forms organic frames around collage-paintings made from printed paper, marker drawings, watercolor, and acrylic painting - all mounted on a wood panel.
The scene in this small work is a shrine to domestic life - a single vase on a coffee table in a grey room. But the patterns, pops of color, and irregular, hand-made frame create a frenetic energy.
