Collage: Paper, silk, Dye Transfer on Other.
I wanted to address an intimate and deep relationship between two men. I’m a woman, so of course, I can only do that by observing and, fortunately for me, I have had the opportunity to see a few healthy, well-functioning and genuinely joyous male homosexual relationships over the course of my lifetime so I strove to capture the ‘richness’ and depth of those in this work.
I chose colors I find to be warm and nurturing and that remind me of the earth and that characteristic of earth to provide because those qualities remind me of the men I’ve known who not only love other men but who tend to feel deeply about so many aspects of life. There is a feeling I tried to create of general abundance, of being able to have what you need.
The collage aspect of this piece takes precedence but the rolled edge of the silk upon which the dyed figures have been painted is clearly evident.
The 12x12" piece is framed in a black, 1.5" black, wood frame.
