About The Artwork

Baha and I painted a yellow corridor together (walls, floor and ceiling) and over the days he told me his story. Of being a documentary maker in Tehran and how he had to leave. The trip to Australia and his new life, sadly much of which can not be told. However this painting is a note to his optimism, looking forwards to a kind and positive future. The painting includes the original Augmented Reality created by using Baha's original content and will be managed and maintained by the artist.

I was born in Auckland, New Zealand but quickly left to explore the world. I didn’t get to study art at school, instead was told to learn mathematics, computer science and philosophy, which I did for many years until I found painting and technology. A constant theme throughout my life is art encounters - with a strange combination of this 'painting and technology'. I now 'paint' with acrylic, oil, enamel as well as Swift, Python, Xcode, After Effects, nodes, generative algorithms and now even Twitch. Each painting is a combination of canvas and code - using the same mathematical rhythms and structure. So far so good with this, 2019 was a big year with participation in exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou in Paris as well as locally here at the nation art gallery (AGNSW). 2020 is interesting...it started well with work as part of the Biennale of Sydney but then everything closed. I think this could be THE time for interactive artists and am busy in studio demonstrating what I mean :-)
