The piece was inspired by personal experiences. The pages were taken from a financial book and cut with an exacto knife. The art was created as part of an experiment. For three weeks in a row, I woke up at 3:30 in the morning. I would wake up and go straight to my work space. Rip a page and begin cutting the paper. No image was pre-meditated, it was all done in a spontaneous way with out giving any thought to where I was headed. Why at 3:30 in the morning? I was exploring the function of the balance between consciousness and the subconscious. I didn't want any sound woken thoughts to interfere with the work. For three weeks I created one or two pieces every morning. At the end these pieces were compiled to become a stream of thought. Unabashed and unfiltered. The work was a challenging self exploration into my own life experiences and insecurities. At times taught to face, but all the more revealing of my own emotion. I hope the viewer comes away seeing their own emotion and perspective into the stream of thought. We all can relate to the emotion of love, fear, pain and happiness. It's an explanation of what we all go through in life. I hope that the viewer can conjure up their own emotional being through the piece. The medium, pages from a financial book, was chosen because of how to many of our life issues are tied to finance. In it and the pursuit of financial freedom or dominance we go and give in to so much. We make many compromises along the way. So I decided to use the paper and cut my thoughts into the paper. It's all really interconnected. That pursuit can be a dimming experience in my life and one that I knew I needed to escape. This was my escape. My way of letting some things go.
