This piece is made using a layered paper collage technique onto wood. The pages of a vintage Marguerite Patten cook book called 'Cookery in colour'. I have carefully cut the bold coloured paper from the graphic layouts of the pages and reassembled them into a stripe pattern onto a wood panel. The collaged geometric piece of wood is then glazed and pressed to give it a textured but shiny finish. This panel has then been laser cut into 2.5cm (1") discs and assembled into this ordered geometric composition. The dots are mounted on a smooth birch ply panel with soft wood grain contrasting the graphic bight coloured spots. I have made a series of these. Each is the same colour palette but each unique in its stripe pattern. Comes framed as shown in an obeche light wood frame. UV perspex glaze to protect the vintage paper from fade.

Abstract artist, Amelia Coward is renowned for her explorations into mixing, blending and grading colours, with a growing international profile. Born in 1975, she holds a 1st class Honours from Central St Martins and MA from the Royal College of Art. Her artworks can be found in both private and corporate collections worldwide. Amelia creates artworks that focus on the interaction of colours combined with the carefully composed spacial balance between geometric elements such as circles and stripes. Influenced by her woven textile training she uses laser cutters much the same way as she was trained to use a loom, cutting geometric shapes then reassembling them in patchwork compositions. Located in a traditional Oast Barn in the Kent countryside, Amelia combines her prolific making of new pieces with her commercial giftware business, Bombus. Each influences the other. Amelia has a team of creative makers in her studio to help to assemble, photograph, frame and pack all the works.
