About The Artwork

The Never Ending Story truly never ended. As the dimension between the reader and the read dissolved and the characters emerged from the pages, some found themselves in unfamiliar territories. Bullies were chased down ally ways by children on dragons, great hunters found themselves on buffaloless plains and giant turtles were transported from dank, dark swamps to sunny beach sides. Of course havoc was wrought and scientist were enlisted to shut the gate between reality and imagination. Most characters went back willingly, preferring their magical land to that of the din and confusion of Earth. Then there were those that wanted to stay and live out their remaining days in the sun.... Matted and framed in 16"x20"

Iʼve been cut open a few times and put back together with new parts. I grew up having surgeries; here and there getting a tune up like a car. Though, I always had to smile. It seemed like the right thing to do. I suppose I know this had a direct connection to me creating collage art. Like a life of odd omens it gave me the inspiration to translate realities though cutting and pasting. I like to think of myself as a surgeon working with pieces of paper, cutting out around the edges to make new combinations. Itʼs within these new combinations that I get to make backdrops to dreams or other scenes. These paper places sometimes have flowers with faces or mushrooms that are bigger than stars. I try not to take myself too seriously. I like to see people smile when they look at my art. I find it fun to take apart the staged realities of fashion magazines and the repetitions that pass between them all and put them back together in strange juxtapositions. Itʼs this fun that I like to pass on to the viewers; a little silliness in a serious world, a surreal view of the familiar.
