About The Artwork
The image area is 8.5" by 12.25" and it is mounted on a 15" by 20" foam board. This is variation #3 of my original painting "Scott's Run #16". To make this collage, I started by painting the surface in shades of green. I made reproductions of the original painting in black and white and in full color. Then I cut the reproductions into thin vertical strips and re-assembled them on top of the painted surface. Conceptually, I am trying to create variations of my original paintings in the same way that nature is constantly morphing itself into new shapes and reinventing itself into new variations. As I've continued to work on this series, I've experimented with introducing unconventional materials such as glitter and mylar as well as recycled items as I work them into the compositions.

I grew up and attended college in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After finishing graduate school, I moved to Germany for a few years where I lived in Bamberg. At that time, I had several solo exhibitions. I returned to the United States and settled in the Washington DC area. While much of my work has been primarily focused on mural painting and large scale scenic arts, I am currently working on smaller easel paintings these days.
