All components of this piece were hand made by the artist, including carved, embroidered and metal embossed “scriptures covers”. (No found objects were used).
Silver, brass, precious and semiprecious stones, gold leaf and modeling compound are among other materials used.
Center panel: oil on canvas (6.5 x 6.5 in)

This new series of works is inspired by the beauty and craftsmanship devoted to the creation and preservation of holly texts.

I found myself exploring the meaning of what lies behind the stone-incrusted covers of our most precious beliefs.
This new series of works is based on my skewed study of the sacred.
Astonished by the effort and blood invested to keep alive what was said before, that what remains constant.
The most precious materials have been chosen for the creation of these objects, as if would be insulting to offer less than that.
Where and how to keep what remains un contained ? Not even inside an exceptional architecture that defies what’s possible, like a culmination of the highest offering seams to suffice.

But who today needs of artisans and their patience!
In the process of doing it myself I discover that it was only about a selfish satisfaction, an unnecessary skill that amasses almost no merit.

Artist Andrea Dopaso was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Attracted by the imaginary worlds created by the film industry, Andrea moved to Los Angeles in 1990, where she resides today. It wasn't long before she expanded her career, working as Concept Illustrator on such major motion pictures as Jungle Book, Guardians of the Galaxy and Life of Pi. Discovered her vocation and love for painting when she was 6 years old. At age 15, she began studying with master Anselmo Piccoli, a well-established constructivism and geometric painter, who quickly became her mentor. She studied under Mr. Piccoli's tutelage for almost a decade. She also received her master of Architecture and Urban design (1989) Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires Hollywood gave her the opportunity to combine her love for painting and drawing with her love for architecture, and it provided the funding for her to create the incredible. Andrea's work tries to explore the paradoxes of human spirituality and it's delusions of dualism and separation. In her own words: "Immersed in a make believe world, your dreams become limitless, and the contrast with the real world self-evident." "On the inside everything is possible, on the outside chaos and uncertainty seem to be driving our civilization to the blink of destruction." www.andreadopaso.com www.goodart-badart.com
