About The Artwork
This encaustic-collage on panel was part of a series titled "Old Stories" that conveyed stories from my family that have been passed down through the generations. This piece specifically uses old maps from the 1950's of Arizona, Scotland, Ireland and England. My mother's family are Scotch-Irish Immigrants who all eventually settled in Arizona. This pieces uses old quilt patterns that are cut from maps to tell their story. The pattern of Sunshine and Shadows embraces the success and trials that they endured along the way.
