Stefano Mazzolini was born in Parma in 1968. At the age of nine he was nominated for the "Drawing and City" prize organized by the municipality of Parma. In 1989 he graduated Master of Art in pictorial decoration at the Paolo Toschi Institute in Parma. For several years he devoted himself to the restoration and conservation of wall paintings. In 1990 he first lived in London and then moved for a short time to New York. His graphic style manifests it in a gestural and immediate way, the dynamic stroke creates drops of acrylic on paper. Well managed pilot stains without following drawings and projects, thus replacing the brush with ampoules and a spatula. Intriguing portraits are formed, fairy-tale environments and mythological animals, elves that float, fantastic figures animate a controlled chaos. Precise features to delimit the contours of human shapes, hints that act in space expressing action rich in spontaneity. While on the canvas with oil he expresses his vision of the hidden, beyond the appearance of being, silhouettes of androgynous subjects, very precise to represent objects, people and intrinsic things and formed by a well-complex structure like everything that lives and shapes. By cutting the canvas and superimposing it, he builds the painting into sculpture. An interlocking of clearly defined volumes emerges, thus highlighting the harmonious composition of our nature. Having acquired knowledge of some restoration techniques, he applies the method of tearing the painting in a decorative version, pours of resins and metallic acrylics, mixed he obtains fabrics, colored leathers that he applies on canvas, wrapping the work in himself, metal grafts, application of various elements, collages of computer-processed images and inserted to define and make sense of the pictorial project. It achieves a definitive pictorial expression, the color is oil with powdered earth, light brushes, free from drawings, projects, but direct and immediate expression of thought, always coherent dynamic actions interlocking, shadows and lights of great contrasts.
