"The Moon" is a textile collage two parts "Sun" and "Moon" Collage

“The silver apples of the moon, the golden apples of the sun”. W. B. Yeats I present to you here, in Saatchi, my work "Moon" in the author's textile technique. The textile work consists of two parts: "Moon" and "Sun", which can form a diptych, but can exist independently. The technique for performing both works is very similar. It is a modern piece of art, but it is also the art of textiles. Stylistically, this creative diptych appeals to medieval graphic miniatures and tarot cards. The idea is to create the Lamps series. First, I made the base using the "sandwich" technique from incredibly beautiful vintage blue silk velvet, bulk slimtex material and natural cotton fabric. As a result, I connect these three layers by hand, embroidering with beads, threads and decor (quilting). Large stars made of hand-chased brass and embroidery with glass beads were used for decoration. The product is also decorated with smaller brass details, sequins, rhinestones, gold and silver threads. For the bas-relief of the Moon's face, I used silver knitwear and tulle. At first, I did it using the trapunto technique - Italian volumetric embroidery. After that I embroidered it, painted it by hand and used tulle applique. Then I placed the finished three-layer artwork into a three-dimensional textile border and used it as a frame for this artwork. On the reverse side of the work there is a crossbar made of light and durable aluminium with holes for convenient mounting of the work on the wall. It is a drawstring with a wall bar, just like a traditional patchwork quilt. Size 24x19х1.2 inches or 61x49х3 cm.
