This piece was started in my hotel room during a visit to Yosemite. I was so inspired by the extreme beauty I did not want to wait until I was home and risk losing the memory and the energy of the forests there. All works from the SPLINTERED WISDOM series are created on paper mounted wood panels artfully painted & splashed with pure watercolors. The rich texture of the trees are created with collaged bits of images of bark & litter, as a gentle reminder that if we do not stop trashing the planet, trees will not grow from our garbage in the future. The overall result is an aesthetically alluring landscape with a hidden message about protecting our forests. All pieces from this series are finished with two coats of archival satin varnish, creating a contemporary but natural look. The edges are finished with varnish as well, but left natural and often display drips of paint from the process. No framing required. This is the Right panel of a Diptych. It can be purchased separately, or as the original diptych from my Artworks page.
