this piece is part of the whole fragments series of work which are a reflection of who we are. they are a visual representation of the idea that we can be fragmented and whole at the same time. done and undone, unravelling and ravelling that we are duality x intersectionality and wholly unique all at the same time. they are about finding and resting in that space in between desire and acceptance, movement and stillness, faith and understanding. reminding us of the complexities of knowing and unknowing ones self. the use of found imagery that mirrored my own mood of internal seeking, reflection and understanding from a never-ending digital mine is meant to make permanent of something fleeting. the wheatpaste technique used yeilds a rough and raw result similar to our own fragmented selves. it is an ode to a style seen in cities everywhere, with a message that makes you stop and think. the piece is varnished with a gloss seal and comes ready to hang.

tahsine al hassane (b.198X) is a first generation canadian multidisciplinary artist. conversations, revelations and inspirations realized x desired, inform her process. it's a push x pull towards critical thought — with comments on humanity, society, culture, identity, place and our collective states of being. her aesthetic incorporates digital x analogue collage using found lens-based imagery — namely contemporary portraiture, typography, illustration, abstraction, repetition, wordplay x prose to express the resultant feelings of those thoughts in all their complexities. though the work is a form of self-described self-portraiture, she intends for the viewer to see themselves as well as our shared humanity, experiences and purpose in the visuals she creates.
