Art Description

Collage: Fabric, Textile, Glass, Plastic, Paper on Glass, Paper, Soft (Yarn, Cotton, Fabric), Other.

This piece was inspired by a visit to the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, CA. I was watching the sun set over the Los Angeles valley and seeing all the city lights starting to twinkle as the land became obscured by dusk. My hope is for the viewer to feel momentarily transported to another place. Mirror helps with this as the viewer sees themselves reflected in this mystical landscape. The use of mirror and other reflective items also gives the pieces it's own sense of light. Color, texture, surface and light are all important to me and I explore them equally in my work. Materials include, but are not limited to, mirror, fabric, paper, holographic paper/sticker, foil, rhinestones, confetti. The fabric within the piece is folded and stiffened and raises up to 3 inches off the surface of the wood panel. An isolation coat has been used to protect the fabric and paper from fading.
