ROBERTO LOPEZ DERPICH (Santiago-Chile-1958) He makes research in the School of Arts in Kassel (Gesamthochschule) and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart (Hoch Schule für bildendekunste). During this period he developes a musical project based on graphical interpretation. In Stuttgart (1983 neoexpressionist tendency period) he develops a group of paintings based on the texts of Seattle, Indian chief of the Duwamish tribe of south western Canada. These paintings are a pictorial and poetic tribute to the ecological text of Seattle. In 1993, Mallorca, the exhibition “Weightless and pilgrims” is a result from the combination of two elements, the human figure levitating, and the”landscape” in the Kuwait desert after the 1991 war. He exhibited in Chile – Germany and Spain (Mallorca) where he lives. In recent years, he has been developing a research based on issues such as the multiplicity of image, the changes of a post-industrial digital information society and the interaction of pictorial and stylistic languages.
