About The Artwork

The same profile as the artwork 'Meteor'. I wanted it to be a sober artwork, with a tromp-l'oeil effect wich would be very graphical. Conception of the model by computer, the composite format (aluminium and plastic) is a 3mn ALUCOBOND panel. The shapes are adhesives : SUPTAC PRO S5000 cut on a cutting plotter which are transfered on the board, the attachement at the back with a crocodile strap.

Pascal Bidot was born in 1960 in Villefranche sur saône. He draws sketches on a few sheets of paper when he is very young. In 1973, he attends drawing and painting courses with Luc Barbier, who is a teacher at the School of Fine Arts in Lyons. From 1976 to 1979, he starts the Art School Martenot in Lyons where he studies the notion of movement, lines, shapes and perspective. Then he begins a career as a layout artist in Villefranche sur saône, alternating with a training in the "Graphic Art" department at the Art High School of Lyons (SEPR). Later, he improves his skills among various companies in Lyons, Bourg en Bresse, Porto Vecchio, Kourou (advertising décor for the Space Centre). He will keep in mind strong impressions from Guyana and which will inspire his creativity. In 1994, he sets up his own business as a graphic designer in the Beaujolais. He draws mural paintings, trompe-l'oeil paintings, achieves advertising decors, he makes heritage restoration in churches. In parallel, he dedicates himself to artistic creation: during the first period, he creates associations of symbolic figures. Then, in 2010, he carries out a new form of creation, working on human body in an aerial movement, in a mix of expression and abstraction. Through this, he rediscovers the gestures he had acquired at Martenot art school. His works of art are in shades of ochre, yellow, black, creating thus clear painting contrasts. Since 2012, he creates geological faults using new techniques, both on a pictorial and sculptural level, just like in ancient "bas-reliefs". Pascal Bidot's works of art are based on the techniques of bas-relief sculptures, so as to highlight the strength and primitive energy of the elements. We can also see harmonies between the depth of the earth and the intersidereal vastness. The mysteries of the material, the echo of light and its resonance in the full and empty space, in some ways like in music. We can represent a distant imaginary reality which would be either in time or space. This pictorial exploration of the unknown is not abstract art. Even though the shapes are weird, they are concrete and represent a geological reality. Nobody can foresee the future, but still, we can thank the painter Pascal Bidot for sharing his vision of lights which are at the origin of many shapes and living matter.
