From Gaia, No. 1: Using the chosen medium of gelatin printing, Norm is able to create a space of melding of indistinguishable forms, depicting the primordial soup in the creation of Gaia or Earth. A horizon line has not been formed and sky and land has not delineated itself, and thus a new beginning arises from Chaos. Gaia, No. 3 explore the landscape of Earth's creation. A horizon line now appears and thus the formation of land versus non-land has begun. Mysterious droplets form along the thick atmosphere. It is hot molten terrain of activity. (Gaia is the Greek Goddess of Earth. Chaos was the first primordial God, which consisted of darkness and void from which Gaia or Earth came into existence.) Note: Limited edition artworks are signed and printed on archival quality papers such as Canon, Hahnemühle, or Moab. Signed artworks are personally approved by the artist and are considered originals. A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the artwork.

Norm Yip (葉灃) was born in Canada in 1963 by Chinese parents. After studying fine art in Saskatchewan and architecture in Toronto, he moved to Hong Kong where began working as an architect. In 1999, he decided to transition into fine art and photography, following his deeper passion into his personal interests. He formed a collective called Melo-Melo Artist Alliance with several friends. It was then that his journey into art began. Oscillating between photography as a main source of income and painting as a hobby, he began to assert more attention and time to the latter. He has exhibited numerously in both solo and group exhibitions in Hong Kong, and most recently in Bangkok, Italy and New York. He currently resides in his birthplace province of Saskatchewan, Canada where he continues to paint and photograph.
