ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The primary colors dominant in this work together provoke a counter-narrative told by darker, complementary values whose shapes complement theirs. As a response to the prevailing vertical energy flow, multicolored horizontal movement entering from the lower left shakes up color solidity, already weakened under the impact of ragged vertical strokes. A visual center of gravity is provided by the yellow outline in the lower part of the work that moves the rest of the work’s color regions slightly backwards, setting them in perspective thereby. As a countermove, the vertically oriented inset in the middle top of the work springs forward to show allegiance with horizontal flow underneath. Overall, an uneasy truce between stasis and flow articulated by non-representational color values which together speak their mind freely and without regard of perfection. . The work is printed on Hot Press Fine Art Smooth Bright White paper (an acid free, 100% cotton rag media with a bright textured finish, yielding an extremely high color gamut and black density). It is signed and numbered by the artist, accompanied by a CoA, and shipped without hanging hardware, in a very sturdy tube protected against folding and puncture.

I am an experimental artist working in digital painting, graphics, abstract photography, animation, and textile design. My work is abstract in the sense that I invent shapes, colors, and textures without reference to representational concerns. Working entirely digitally, I consider the boundaries between domains of visual art as entirely permeable. Since I work with a large variety of tools aided by a mastery of controlled random, the outcome of my composition and design processes are unpredictable; their results often straddle the line between established visual-art categories.
