These series of works themed 'Making of a Man' illustrate familiar unavoidable life events narrated through a young man’s life. They depict the certainty of struggles in life’s journey, though life came at him in a depressive way which led to his breakdown multiple times. He inevitably encouraged himself by yearning for a new and happy life. He stuck to the fight by seeking help from above and refocusing his mind to the promising future in the words of God. If we’re humans, challenges will surely come our way in life. While some get knocked down and are never able to rise on their feet again, a majority encourage themselves, push forward, and pick up the broken pieces and start rebuilding. Hence, the latter becomes more vital than ever. Life presents challenges to make us stronger not to kill us. Though sometimes it can be overwhelming, but with the grace of God deposited inside us, victory is sure if we look deep within and above ourselves. These words by John Greenleaf Whittier resonate with my feelings about these paintings. ''Success is failure turned inside out; The silver tint of the clouds of doubt; And you can never tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar; So, stick to the fight when you’re the hardest hit. It’s when things seem worse that you must not quit.'' A dove is hidden in the background also which symbolizes the presence of The Almighty in all of our life's journey. She began to experiment in 2D Digital Painting after her National Youth Service year in 2019 while keeping hands on her acquired Traditional Painting skills. She is a full-time Studio Artist. She is an impressionistic artist who is influenced by her love for nature and human relationships which stands as the focus of her creativity in a personal style. She aims to make people see the beauty contained in the multiple facets of human life while strengthening human bonds and lifting souls through her subject and style of painting. She is constantly experimenting with all mediums, and learning to extract more from her creative possibilities with art. ARTIST’S STATEMENT I know life can be overwhelming sometimes & it’s also full of challenges, but that doesn’t terminate the fact that life is beautiful. When I look around our world, it’s impossible for me to resist the grandeur of nature; the stunning landscapes like: the bodies of water, the vegetations, the sky, the mountains, the hills among other beautiful creations, and the people God has placed in it. When I look at them attentively, from within, I could hear the Creator speaking to us through these beauties that surround mankind. I believe He wants us to know He’s always with us even in our demanding moments, and ‘our worlds’ & ‘our lives’ can always be beautiful if we pay attention to nature’s lessons and view life from God’s perspective. Also, women are generally considered beautiful & divine, and they possess an irresistible aura that makes them desirable. The beauty of life would be incomplete without the existence of women in our world. All these motivate me to recreate beauty in my own world, a world I want to share with my audience and I want them to feel a part of. So, I draw inspiration majorly from these subjects: Life, Nature & Black Women. In this, I find an endless bliss to make people see the beauty contained in the multiple facets of human life to strengthen human bonds & lift up souls. With the use of brush, I present my works in a personal style using a limited colour palette to achieve an overall harmonious picture in my paintings.
