ABOUT THE ARTWORK

'Lee Baxter' - Gallery Edition No More Dog Breath..... Anthropomorphic Pop Art Dada Mash-up fusion of Lee Miller* and my big rescue dog Baxter.** - (with a passing reference perhaps to the famous 'Cat & I' photograph by Wanda Wulz?) The superimposed lips reference Man Ray's 1934 painting of Lee Miller's lips l'Heure de l'Observatoire or The Lovers. This series includes Amuse Bouche & I Am Not A Muse. The original artwork came about after playing around with a few photos taken earlier in the day of Baxter rocking in a muddy puddle in Richmond Park, West London. He was so ecstatically happy and the happiness shone though his eyes.. pure heaven. Bit of a pisser for me as he had just spent the morning in his local Doggy Parlour for a full wash and blow. The digital photographic composition includes solarisation (see below), displacement and paint effects set against a Farrow and Ball (Green Smoke) coloured background (for those of you who might be interested) - I have renamed this colour 'Dog Breath' for the purposes of this artwork. This Gallery Edition is hand-signed by the artist personally and includes a unique Certificate of Authenticity. • Type: Fine-Art Print • Medium: Giclée • Materials: 100% Cotton Hahnemühle Photorag • A1 Special Hand-signed Gallery Edition of only 6 • A1: approx* 84 x 59cms (33x 23 inches) • Image at approx. 85% paper size • This artwork is sold unframed • Includes Certificate of Authenticity NB Large Artwork will be shipped rolled in a secure tube. *Lee Miller: Elizabeth "Lee" Miller, Lady Penrose (April 23, 1907 – July 21, 1977), was an American photographer. She was a successful fashion model in New York City in the 1920s before going to Paris, where she became an established fashion and fine art photographer. During the Second World War, she became an acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue, covering events such as the London Blitz, the liberation of Paris, and the concentration camps at Buchenwald and Dachau.
