This digital painting received a Special Recognition art award in the ‘The Healing Power of Elements: Earth, Water, Air and Fire’ Juried Art Exhibition Competition with Manhattan Arts International, New York, USA (2023). The artwork is hand painted using Old Master painting techniques on a digital screen. OBSERVE MY PAINTING PROCESS: .youtube.com/watch?v=ovilQfjc4Dc&feature=youtu.be ABOUT THE ARTWORK: This painting is the second painting created in my new fine art series called ‘The Mystics of Montenegro’, a body of work I began creating in 2023 upon settling into my new residence in an ancient seaside village in Montenegro. INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTWORK: This is a print on demand artwork. My name and the date of creation will be on the back of the canvas, as well as the declaration that the work is a Limited Edition artwork. The genuine woven canvas comes stretched on a handcrafted wooden frame and is handmade in the United Kingdom. The artwork comes ready to hang. INSPIRATION: I first visited the picturesque Snake Lake (Zminje Jezero) in October 2022 on a hike inside of Durmitor National Park in the Dinaric Alps in northern Montenegro. The water was surprisingly warm for an autumn day up there, and yet only one woman embraced the weather and bathed in its waters meditatively, while onlookers watched in their winter clothing. The stillness and serenity emanating from the lake is not possible to describe with words , yet I sought to capture its essence in this piece. Snake Lake in Durmitor sits at an altitude of 1456m elevation. The national park is a UNESCO Heritage protected site which sees tourists visit all year round to enjoy the full four seasons of this magical place, including long Narnia-like winters.

In October 2023 Romeo was a successful finalist in a US-based international juried portrait and figurative art competition for two of his classical portrait paintings. The competition received submissions from artists across four continents and 14 countries including Canada, UK, Germany, Italy and China. He has also received several awards for his digital matte paintings in North American international art competitions including the Gold Award in the ‘Black and White XI International Juried Art Exhibition’ and Honorable Mention in the ‘13th Annual Open Art Competition’. Each of the competitions received hundreds of entries from across four continents.
