'Migration and Containment' I quite often make images about contemporary hot topics. It is important to me that artists are able to contribute to the debate about who or what we are as a society. Trying to say something new about a subject that has been discussed endlessly in the media and political...

"Anthony Martin’s art style is characterized by a deep sense of wonder and exploration of vast concepts such as time, space, and spirit. His works often reflect the intricate contours of natural objects, like a modest pebble, and are known for their painstaking attention to detail. This meticulous approach to repeated forms is a testament to his meditative process of artmaking, which serves as a personal exploration of his faith. His art is described as serious yet fresh, playful, and wonderfully unique, capturing both cosmic principles and the humble human experience." Ruth Smith, Gallery Curator and artist. UK Anthony Martin’s playful pen and ink pieces are the exploration of a personal language. They have an illustrative quality, considering issues and concepts which Anthony researches such as ancient history, scientific developments, and biblical texts. He will begin with the textual element, writing short summations of the research that will anchor the piece. The drawings begin in one corner, flowing outward as Anthony’s mind is encouraged to wonder. His ‘hybrids’ series contemplates scientific experimentation that stitches together human and animal cells. For Anthony, this research has a nefarious underbelly; combining human and animal characteristics to enhance certain abilities for military or technological uses. He questions the morality of playing God and the potential pitfalls. With his hybrids, he explores these questions and anxieties in a humorous manner. His morphing, psychedelic shapes and colours package these serious considerations in an enjoyable aesthetic manner. By Kate Reeve-Edwards, Art Writer UK
