The series "Shadows of the Past: Vestiges of Oblivion" explores the quiet corners of memory, where the remnants of the past lie in a poignant solitude. Each image in this collection is a silent witness to the stories and lives that once filled these spaces, now left to the embrace of time and neglect. This series seeks not just to capture the aesthetic decay and disuse but also to stir a profound meditation on the passage of time and the subtle traces left by bygone lives. Through the lens, these forgotten places and objects unfold their narratives, engaging the viewer in a silent dialogue that suggests even in the shadows of oblivion, the past leaves indelible marks. This collection invites viewers to a deep, reflective engagement, urging them to consider the transient yet lasting impact of our existence in the world.

Marco Mattiuzzi's training began when he attended a creative photography course held by Fiorenzo Rosso and Serena Leale, who oriented him towards the "artistic" photo. With techniques such as solarization, toning, tinting and various manipulations, he obtains images between painting and photography. Later he deepens the language of images during annual courses of professional photography with Bruna Orlandi, Alessandra Attianese and Pier Angelo Cavanna. He has exhibited in art galleries in both solo and group exhibitions, ZOOM has published his portfolio and his work has been reviewed in newspapers and magazines. Fiorenzo Rosso wrote about him: "The reproduction of the negative is not the final stage of the process, but the beginning, or rather the continuation of a path that will end, for the author, only after a long work of manual intervention". He has collaborated with Photographie Magazine and Disegno e Pittura, as well as newspapers with critical reviews on painters and photographers. He deals with art and communication in many forms, from music to literature, from photography to virtual reality, with writings regularly published on online cultural portals and on major social networks. For some years now he has replaced the camera and darkroom with the computer, creating virtual sets in 3D from which he obtains images for further processing and manipulation.
