This image is a meditation on the motion inherent in waves and how they affect us. I have gone to the seashore several times this summer and have been captivated by the sight, sound, and feel of waves. Gentle, soothing murmurs to thunderous roars as they make their way to the shore. Undulating rhythmic swells to mighty mounds of seething foam. Soothing caresses to violent attacks. During my last trip to the beach I found myself caught in a rip current. How insignificant my efforts against this force of nature, yet how philosophical the thoughts and actions to gain release from its grip - remain calm, and move in a different (perpendicular) direction.
