Ink on Stonehenge paper

Introducing a new artwork of the "Art of the moment" series.

Inspiration:
I aim through art to contribute in projects to eradicate the causes of poverty and build a world based on the principles of justice, equality and respect.

Here, I used the word" Mercy" in Arabic "الرحمة" and blend it with contemporary Arabic Chinese-style calligraphy.
In my art, I tend to draw connections between our natural environment and aspects of spirituality through an artistic process of combining movements, rhythm and brush strokes.

In my work, aim to give the alphabets in a word a 3D and a natural waving effects as if the word is written with a waving scarf in air or a fabric flowing in the air. The word is finally captured as if it is in slow motion which is translated into paper.

I like the viewers to feel the energy and share the feeling of dignity, richness and beauty in my work. I invite the viewers to visualize the art work, to try to make the art work move by follow the brush strokes movements and fill up the space with their own imagination.

"You should never lose heart. God is merciful and kind- he has endowed you with the best gift- smile, which can make millions happy" Mother Teresa

Maomeii B. (b. 1975) is a Canadian/Algerian Artist based in Calgary. Classically trained in traditional Arabic calligraphy and Art, his desire to know more about the way in which the written form is expressed in different cultures led him to travel and study with renewed masters. To better express himself, he broke from the tradition and introduced other elements, particularly on his work in large sizes. Maomeii has adopted the journey of spontaneous and abstract style, which involves the informal movement and creativity. His Cognitive calligraphy artwork takes shape through drawings and paintings which are based on classical calligraphic styles and techniques, but that simultaneously break the rules to create an alternative idiom through his own subjective expression to work in a more free-form improvisational style. Researching culture, Asian history, philosophy, storytelling, and martial arts have always been a constant influence to Maomeii and his contemporary Chinese-Arabic fusion and abstract works, where he combines elements of traditional Asian ink painting, Arabic calligraphy, and modern art. In this fusion, Maomeii's style beautifully incorporates the flowing lines of Chinese calligraphy and the larger planes of abstract expressionism as seen in the Western painting. With this multi-cultural dimension, he aims to reach out to the spiritual and material status of people. © Rhythms of calligraphy™
