ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The work is dedicated to a state familiar to every Ukrainian today. It's hard to describe it in words, but easy to feel. It echoes with the childish cry inside each of us. In psychological concept, the inner child is considered a part of a person's personality that embodies emotional vulnerability, intuition, creativity, and joy. This part of our "self" contributes to mental resilience, serving as a source of inspiration and inner support. By listening to oneself in all manifestations, a person unfolds their creative potential, improves emotional balance, and enhances self-awareness. During war, this child is blinded by fear and anxiety. Represented in the work as an amorphous figure with a child's face, it reflects vulnerability and fragility, heightened in the context of wartime (the same malicious goat's head in the necklace made of anti-tank hedgehogs and bullets). The depiction is placed in a wire cage, indicating a state of alienation and captivity from war. This serves as a reminder that the impact of war can affect even at the most personal level, leaving its mark on every individual. The work reflects the complexity of inner struggle and the search for peace during war, as well as the importance of protecting and preserving innocence and childhood even in the darkest times.
